Free WiFi For Everyone Through Space Balloons |
Under this project (Project Loon) Giant balloons filled with Helium gas will be suspended and WiFi will be transmitted to these balloons from ground station. Signals reflected from these balloons will reach under develop countries where Internet access for poor and marginalized people is not available. After this historic agreement between Google and Sri Lankan Government, Sri Lankan Deputy Minister of Economic Development Harsha de Silva said that "After few months Free 3G WiFi internet will be available for every person in Sri Lanka".
Google's Project Loon was started in 2011. Under this project internet providing balloons experiment was taking place in New Zealand, Brazil, Australia and United States. These balloons will be carried in the space at the altitude of 19 Kilometer and will need to replace after every 100 days. Google says that this is the first step of providing free 3G WiFi internet to the people of Sri Lanka and that day will come soon when every people of under develop countries have access to the fastest internet service for free or almost free.
