Polar bears facing food shortage

Scientists had believed that polar bears instinctively would enter in a type of 'walking hibernation' when deprived of prey.
But in according to a new research when there is a shortage of food in warmer conditions the Polar bears simply starve.
According the author of the research there are lesser chance of this animal in warmer conditions.
In 2008, Bears in North Pole were declared an endangered species in America. Interior Ministry Secretary of that time said that the dramatic reduction in sea ice is the biggest threat for the life of bears.
The main diet of the polar bears is seal but in summer season the seals numbers reduces due the increased melting of ice. Because of which polar bears struggle to find there meal.
According to some researcher polar bears would deal with a reduced calorie intake by entering a low-activity state termed 'walking hibernation', similar to the way that many species of bear cope with winter.
To test this scientists started a dangerous and expensive pilot project in North of Alaska. In which modern technology was used and about 24 bears were tagged they used satellite collars and surgically implanted logging devices to track the bears' movements and to record physiological details.

According to the Lead author John Whiteman from the University of Wyoming the bears of normal metabolism as the normal mammalian should have. If the human get less food then after a few weeks we will have the same data as of the bears.
Although bears cannot change their behavior when it comes to food, but they can transform themselves to swim in the cold water.
Temporarily bears allow the outermost portion of the core of the body to cool off substantially. Because of which the innermost major organs are protected.

John Whiteman also said that "We've uncovered what seems to be a fascinating adaptation for swimming in cold arctic waters, but I don't think that is going to play as big a role in determining their fate as the loss of hunting opportunities will,"
We understand that on the basis of Available data, ultimately bears the North Pole will be rare specie.
